detox

It turns out a wide array of our health issues, from chronic diseases to cancers, are due to the body losing its ability to regulate itself and detoxify bad stuff, think of a car getting older due to general wear and tear on its parts. Simple enough to comprehend, yet we sure love "detoxing" by adding some evidence-backed blend of sulforaphane extract, Nrf2 maximizing, cosmic-antioxidant, while holding Zone II/HIIT balanced mindfulness sessions, speed listening to Guru X's latest podcast, while charging our assholes with sunlight.
Detox, is "removal" of "tox"
This is not the same as adding something that can help detox something else, which would make that addition a good thing. That, is called medicine, or for more specificity, pharmacology. No, detox, is quite literally, the inverse of adding good, it is the removal of bad. Plenty of learning, plenty to educate on, but application? Go ask some 70 year old haenyeo if she gives a crap about your biomarkers or VO₂ max.
Ok, so what is bad?
I don't know man, a lot has accelerated in the past few generations. I wouldn't suggest using parapsychology or voodoo as your primary health philosophy, but I certainly don't put all my eggs in modern approaches. Let's be honest, what is the incentive for international, national, organizational, or discipline-specific public health? A better worker? More medical transactions? Don't get me started on lobbying, insurance, or subsidies - public research is great, personal health is all we really have.

Ask yourself if having your phone in the bedroom is worth it. Whether filling all open time slots on a planner is REAL value. Or better yet, simplify it all down to the present moment - would you rather be smoking and joking with a loving old friend, or does the microwavable, automated personality shaper really feel better? A bit of nothing, day dreaming the why; its why the ocean and the sky don't really give a shit about your new fad, since there will always be something new to waste time on.
Find something worth living for. Do more "nothing" and get rid of the bullshit, it'll make you feel so much better.
